MRT1 LADY NYE SCHOOL

The Seva Samajam journey began in 1950 with the founding of the Guild of Service and is dedicated to bettering the lives of children with disadvantaged backgrounds. The home aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment to children whose parents are unable to provide for them. From modest beginnings in the form of a single room, it has grown hugely in stature and reputation as an organisation devoted to the rehabilitation, education and upliftment of hundreds of destitute children.

MRT 1 LADY NYE SCHOOL

All the children study at the local MRT1 Lady Nye School, which has classes from 1 to 12. The School, recognised by the State Government and partially funded by it, plays an important role in moulding the children.  Housemothers and staff working full time contribute greatly to the smooth functioning of the school.

Over 200 day scholars from poor backgrounds also come to study along with the children who live in the home. They are taught in Tamil medium and study subjects such as English, Maths, Social Science, Economics and Computer Science. However, we still lack some basic facilities, especially in the sciences area.
